Details about The Great Papyrus for anyone who wants to present his greatness as accurately as possible.
Note: This does not take the demo or reward tier video into consideration. We will be using the final game (including unused sprites) and 3D Renderfor reference. There are inconsistencies between the two, so sprites will usually take priority.
Color:
white skull
interestingly enough, the rest of his skeleton is black
this is seen in overworld sprite and render
battle sprites have white skeleton, but a black skeleton would be hard to see with the background
he’s not wearing sleeves, as seen by the distinction of the ulna and radius bones of his arms
3D render has solid arms, likely because distinct bones would make the arms fragile
is his skeleton painted black?
black eye sockets and black eyebrow ridges
his eyes are comically different sized, usually with his left eye being the smaller one
white battle armor with yellow cuffs on sleeves and bottom
red-orange cape
many mistake his cape for a scarf, but you can tell its a cape from the back
red-orange gloves with yellow cuffs
red-orange boots with black straps
blue shorts(?) with yellow trim
Design / Face:
has wacky expressions with googly eyes or anime eyes
eyebrow ridges sometimes disappear during these
when looking in one direction, the black of his eye sockets shifts
can cry tears and blush
corners of mouth are usually upright, but they can go down to be flat with the top of mouth and that’s the lowest they go
nasal cavity opening is triangular shaped with a slight pinch at the bottom
his whole face is used when expressing emotions
Design / Body:
tall and lanky figure aside from the battle armor
battle armor makes his upper body much wider than hips
shoulder length is at least twice the width of hips
always seen with gloves on, no matter what outfit
if called in Hotland after exiting Alphys’ lab, he mentions “I’m always wearing gloves…” when talking about knowing Hotland like the back of his hand
right glove appears to have a separate opening for the index finger, but not for the other fingers
this is seen in both 3D render and unused battle sprite
appears to be right-handed
Soul / Magic:
only uses blue and white attacks
contrary to popular fancanon, he never uses orange attacks or magic
turns the soul blue without any visible magic, attack, or action
if captured on purpose before the blue bones attack, the next time Papyrus is fought, the multiple blue bones attack is never used
every fight after the first starts right away with a blue soul; no attack needed
has a (possibly non-bone) attack that could blast you (likely the Gaster Blaster)
during his fight, he sometimes “prepares a non-bone attack and then spends a minute fixing his mistake”
if spared in genocide route and inquired about his box of bones, he mentions that had he used his special attack, “you surely would have been blasted to…”
is the only monster that has shown complete control of magic/attacks to not deal damage when opponent’s HP drops to 1
has a white upside-down soul, as all other monsters
remember, only six colored souls were seen after Asriel destroyed the barrier
Please remember this is only a reference for those who want to present Papyrus as close to canon as possible. It is not meant to hinder your creativity.
Someone’s been reporting Undertale AU blogs for no reason. If this blog goes down, I will be fighting it.
Signal boosting this because it’s important. I’m already taking steps to backup the IF blog, but I’m wary of sharing the url just yet due to this mass reporting spree.
This is not okay. Not in the slightest. Several of my friends’ blogs have already been struck down.
Okay, gonna add to this that I know that The More Things Change, Epictale, the original Team Switched blog, Mamar11, and several smaller askblogs were hit by this. I’m sure there are others, too. It doesn’t seem to be strictly restricted to sprite comics and seems to be specifically hitting Undertale blogs. If you know UT content creators, I suggest warning them just to be safe.
I wonder if part of this has to do with updated Tumblr terms of service in some other countries increasing the minimum age for users. I saw some posts about it awhile back warning people that it was upcoming.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! This could actually be the real cause of at least some of the terminations. I did some looking, and here’s what I found…
“The updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy go into effect
on 25 May 2018. If you continue to use Tumblr on or after 25 May
2018, you are agreeing to the updated Terms of Service and our use of
your data as set out in our Privacy Policy. If you don’t want the
updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to apply to you, you can
delete your account and stop using Tumblr. Please note that under our updated Terms of Service, users in the European Economic Area must be at least 16 years old
(or the lower age that your country has provided for you to consent to
the processing of your personal data) in order to use Tumblr.“
We are not 100% sure yet, but if this is the real cause, then this is still hugely important for any European content creators and fans. Have there been other posts about bloggers under 16 getting terminated? I’m trying to find info but am not sure where to start looking.
Basically, we should consider this as a possibility! After all, this did start happening on the 25th of May.
IMPORTANT UPDATE. PLEASE READ!
We have word that other blogs outside this fandom are being suspended. Blogs run by European users under the age of 16. One such blog was Jesterartist. While this does not explain blogs like Team Switched or Epictale being shut down, it is entirely possible that at least some of the terminations are a result of the new European ToS.
I think at this stage, we need to shift to reaching out to young content creators and encouraging them to save/backup their content. There are a LOT of young users in this fandom who could be affected by this, if they aren’t already.
Unfortunately, this is not something tumblr can really change. It is based in European laws. I did some research, and it is affecting other websites as well as tumblr. Here is what I found…
‘1. Where point (a) of Article 6(1)
applies, in relation to the offer of information society services
directly to a child, the processing of the personal data of a child
shall be lawful where the child is at least 16 years old. Where the
child is below the age of 16 years, such processing shall be lawful only
if and to the extent that consent is given or authorised by the holder of parental responsibility over the child.
Member States may provide by law for a lower age for those purposes provided that such lower age is not below 13 years.
‘
Now, some websites are simply changing the way data processing works for users 13 – 15 and requiring a parental proxy. Tumblr seems to have decided it does not want anyone under the age of 16 in Europe. You can see the full details here.
I am not here to dispute this with tumblr, but I am here to give you all a warning that they are not backing down on this. Instead of giving people time to save their content, they are just automatically suspending accounts from European countries that are too young. One of my friends lost a lot of art because he’d only saved it on his tumblr. Please reach out to young content creators at this stage. We may have had the initial cause wrong, but this is still very important.
