So I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Since I have read up on homosexuality in South Korea actually.
Just for those who do not know: South Korea has one of the lowest LGBTQ acceptance rates in all developed countries. While being in a homosexual relationship is legal, neither marriage nor legal partnerships are possible for same sex couples.
Members of the LGBTQ Community are unfortunately very likely to be bullied and ridiculed and a lot choose not to come out due to fear of discrimination.
Now we come to the thing I actually wanted to discuss: homosexuality in K Pop. Like I said, it’s been on my mind a lot recently simply because it is such a double edged sword and very controversial.
On the one hand, some idols have openly stated their dislike of homosexual relationships e. g. Zico from Block B whose controversial song lyrics have gotten him into quite some trouble and Super Junior’s Siwon who has been quite vocal about the issue as well. And unfortunately there have been some other cases of idols saying ignorant or even homophobic things as well. And I’m not saying that they’re all huge homophobes, some might just be ignorant because they aren’t well informed about the issue or could even have been misquoted or things could have gotten lost in translation. But some of them quite obviously do not accept homosexuals, just like about 52% of the South Korean population.
And a lot of this comes down to the culture they have grown up in. South Korea is still very traditional in their views about family and relationships. And conservative Christian groups are a very important factor in South Korean society.
But here is the other thing, fanservice and shipping are a very essential part of K Pop, like it or not. Members of literally every group out there are being shipped with another member or even members of their bands right now. Think about all of the fanfics being written and videos of their best moments being edited right this second.
And often times the idols are aware of this and engage in some fanservice because of it. Kisses on the cheek, hugs, couple outfits are only some examples. And their fans-Korean and international alike-love it. And it’s completely accepted.
Also members just being affectionate with each other is totally fine.
But despite K Pop being one of the gayest things ever-and I say this with love-there is still only one openly gay idol out there. All hail our gay king Holland.
And he revealed that he was bullied because of his sexuality during middle school, even by some people who are now idols. And I know kids sometimes say really stupid shit. And the people who bullied Holland might have a completely different stance when it comes to the topic of homosexuality now, but listening to children can provide very interesting insights on the culture they live in.
And young Korean fangirls and boys are just as invested in their favorite ships as the international fans hailing from countries with higher LGBTQ acceptance rates.
So why is fanservice okay but real homosexuality isn’t? That is so messed up and bothers me a lot. Affection between two people of the same gender is totally cool as long as they’re gorgeous K Pop idols and at the end of the day they’re just two straight people messing around.
This culture of semi-acceptance of homosexuality needs to change asap. Think of all the young LGBTQ Koreans out there. They deserve to have role models comfortable enough to come out as gay, bisexual, transgender or whatever else they want. And so do all of the international members of the LGBTQ community who are K Pop fans.
And more importantly, all of the idols deserve to live in a culture which doesn’t judge them for their sexual orientation, a culture which celebrates them for being themselves rather than forcing them to hide. Holland’s bravery was a great step in the right direction so there is some hope after all. So please just support the LGBTQ community and gay idols just as much as you support your favorite ships.
well he really should have worn more protective clothing if he didn’t want that to happen sounds to me like he was asking for it
Are we really sure he was actually shot and decapitated? Idk, sounds like something he would’ve made up. Guys make false decapitation accusations all the time, you know.Â
If he didn’t want to be decapitated, he shouldn’t have worn a shirt that showed off his neck
I mean, not all woman decapitate people. I’m not like that.
Was he alone? He shouldn’t have been alone. I mean what was he expecting?
It obviously wasn’t a legitimate decapitation, if it was the body has ways of shutting it down. Â
He probably enjoyed being shot. Most men don’t like to admit they actually enjoy being shot and having their head cut off.
Obviously. If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t have let her shoot him 10 times. He would’ve stopped her. Basic logic.
A lesson to learn, kids. Always be on guard by wearing a bulletproof vest.
He shouldn’t have run into her bullets. Ten times.
I heard he’d been at a bar before it happened, so he probably just got drunk and tripped over the blade that decapitated him. Men really need to be more careful when they drink or these things are bound to happen.
hey guys just to let u kno that a instagram acc named after Akisa is trying to threaten jimin .. her acc name is @/buljimic3 so please try to spread the word … shes trying to “shoot” jimin in a concert at Sept 5
so yeah spread the word n reach out to bts so they could atleast take proper legal actions towards this !!! THANK U !!!
I’m not kidding. Take some time out of your day, and figure out how dat thang actually attaches to your person. Heck, don’t limit it to the glutes, study everything, you’ll figure out how it works with the rest of the body a lot easier.
Break muscles down to basic workable shapes. That’s how construction works.
With these studies and simplifications, I’ve learned:
There’s a fair amount more to it, especially if we’re talking about fat vs. muscle, proportions, relation to hips, etc., but these are more or less the basics, I think.
Seriously though, practice anatomy. Then you can go off and do whatever you please.
reblog for your Texas #LGBTQ followers who may be going to Houston Pride!
What the hell is up with this?!
no idea but its scary shit
Reblog for your friends.
Everyone reblog this.
I don’t care if you don’t live in Texas or if you are skeptical about this post PLEASE REBLOG THIS! I live In Fort worth Texas which is only four hours away and the fact that something could happen so close to home and to my fellow Texans is heart wrenching.
y’all didn’t even add a tutorial of how to do this so imma put one right here
1. type in cmd.exe into your windows search and right click on Command Promt search result and select “Run as Administator”. 2. Type/Copypase inÂ
net.exe stop “Windows Search” and make sure Windows Search is in quotations. It should then respond saying “The Windows Search service is stopping” and then tell you it’s stopped.
This is only a temp fix though, if you want it switched off permanently then do THIS:
1. Â Press the Windows key + R at the same time and type in services.msc.
2.  Scroll until you find Windows Search and double click it to enter its Properties window.
3. Â Change the Startup type to Disabled. Apply this change and you can exit out.
This is not a joke. I was at a premier showing tonight, and my immediate thought was how disasterously unsafe this movie is for my photosensitive epilepic friends. @markingatlightspeed I’m tagging you with this specifically because this would be extremely dangerous for you to watch.
There are multiple scenes in this movie with full-screen, black-and-white flashing strobe effects. They all happen without warning, and last anywhere between a few seconds to more than two minutes. In a darkened movie theater, this means the likelihood of a seizure could be VERY HIGH if you are sensitive to these effects.
If you have photosensitive epilepsy or another disorder that is triggered by strobe lights, I would highly recommend you DO NOT SEE THE INCREDIBLES 2 IN THEATERS. Wait until the movie’s released on digital/Bluray, and you can watch it in a fully-lit room, with someone with you who will be able to help if the strobe effects do trigger a seizure.
Sometimes the help you need isn’t the help you want. Call 1-800-273-8255 if you’re thinking of suicide.
This comic meant a whole lot to me. It was sincere in its depiction and treated the issue through the eyes of a grounded person. Not some godly hero saying everything is better than it seems, but a person trying his best before bringing her somewhere who can actually help.
Okay, I’m reblogging this for a couple reasons. 1, Deadpool is awesome and I love him XD (duh), 2, Hamilton is also awesome and I too love the musical (double duh XD) and 3, suicide is no laughing matter, but this comic have a heartfelt message across about a serious subject, and that’s not always easy to do. Sometimes giving up seems to be the easiest thing to do, believe me, I know. But sometimes that moment when we want to give up, may just really be a sign that we need help, becasue the weight of the world might be too much for one person, and that we need help. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone, wether you believe it or not, there is always at least one person who is waiting to give you a helping hand.
